Participants
| Role | Name | HCID | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reactant | Acetic Acid | HCID 176 | — |
| Reactant | Oxygen | HCID 977 | — |
| Reactant | Adamantane | HCID 9238 | — |
| Product | 1-Adamantanol | HCID 64152 | 48% |
| Product | 1,3-Adamantanediol | HCID 573829 | 13% |
Reaction Steps
To 25 ml of acetic acid were added 10 mmol of adamantane, 0.8 mmol of NHPI and 0.6 mmol of acetylacetonatocobalt(II)Co(AA)2 , and the resultant mixture was stirred in an oxygen atmosphere at a temperature of 75° C. for 3 hours. The products in the reaction mixture were analyzed by gas chromatography, and, as a result, adamantane was converted into 1-adamantanol (yield: 48%) and 1,3-adamantanediol(yield: 13%) with the adamantane conversion of 65%.
