Then, trans-4-(p-chlorophenyl)cyclohexane carboxylic acid (160 g, 0.67 mole) was stirred together with 100 ml of thionyl chloride and 500 ml of carbon tetrachloride at a reflux temperature for one day and a night. Then the solvent was distilled off by an evaporator. The residue was distilled under reduced pressure, whereby trans-4-(p-chlorophenyl)cyclohexane carboxylic acid chloride was obtained as a yellow liquid. The amount was 152 g, the yield was 88%, and the boiling point was 144° C./0.3 mmHg.
