Reaction Steps
Aqueous 1N sodium hydroxide (12 ml.) is added to a suspension of t-butoxycarbonyl-0-(2,6-dichlorobenzyl)-L-tyrosyl-D-alanylglycine methyl ester (Step 2, 4.7 g.) in acetone (25 ml.) stirred with a magnetic stirrer. After 4 1/2 hours the solution is acidified to pH 2 with 4N hydrochloric acid. After an hour a white precipitate is removed by filtration and dried under vacuum to give t-butoxycarbonyl-0-(2,6-dichlorobenzyl)-L-tyrosyl-D-alanylglycine.
