A suspension of 7-benzyloxy-2-ethyl-2H-pyrazolo[3,4-c]quinolin-4-ylamine (prepared as described in Example 1320) (0.80 g, 2.51 mmol) in ethanol (80 mL) and methanol (20 mL) and palladium on carbon (10% palladium w/w on carbon) (0.4 g, ) were combined in a pressure vessel and placed under hydrogen pressure ((50 psi (3.4×105 Pa)) for 24 hours. The reaction mixture was diluted with DMF (50 mL), filtered through CELITE filter agent, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified via column chromatography on silica gel (eluting with 20-50% CMA/chloroform), concentrated under reduced pressure, and crystallized from acetonitrile to yield 0.31 g of 4-amino-2-ethyl-2H-pyrazolo[3,4-c]quinolin-7-ol as a light-yellow solid, mp 214-215° C.
