To a stirred solution of 4-(2-oxo-1,4-dihydro-2H-quinazolin-3-yl)-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid (8-benzyloxy-2-methyl-3-oxo-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-benzo[c]azepin-4-yl)-amide (187 mg, 0.34 mmol) in methanol (30 mL) followed by 10% palladium on carbon (30 mg) under nitrogen. The reaction mixture was brought to 1 atmosphere of hydrogen and stirred for 12 h. The catalyst was filtered and the solvent was evaporated to give 4-(2-Oxo-1,4-dihydro-2H-quinazolin-3-yl)-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid (8-hydroxy-2-methyl-3-oxo-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-benzo[c]azepin-4-yl)-amide in quantitative yield. MS (ESI) 464 (M+H); Rf=1.34.
