Procedure
To a solution of the compound of 1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)methanamine (0.15 ml, 1.1 mmol) in anhydrous dichloromethane (2 ml), at −10° C. and under nitrogen, was added drop wise 3-chloropropanoyl chloride (0.12 ml, 1.1 mmol). The reaction mixture was allowed to warm to room temperature and stirred for 18 h. To the mixture was added dichloromethane (5 ml) and water (5 ml) and the two layers were separated. The aqueous layer was extracted with dichloromethane (10 ml) and the combined organic layers were dried (MgSO4) and concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound (285 mg).
