Tert-butyl 3-[4,6-Dibromo-2-(2-chlorophenyl)-3-pyridyl]propionate (3.86 g, 8.116 mmol) was dissolved in trifluoroacetic acid-water (9:1, 25 ml) and the solution allowed to stand for 3 about hours (hereinafter “h), then evaporated in vacuo.
