To a solution of bis(tricyclohexylphosphine)benzylidine ruthenium IV dichloride (39 mg, 0.045 mmol) in dichloromethane (100 ml) at reflux was transferred a solution of 2,4-dimethoxy-6-pent-4-enyloxy-benzoic acid pent-4-enyl ester (255 mg, 0.76 mmol) in dichloromethane (70 ml). After 5 hours at reflux, the solvent was removed and chromatography gave the 1,3-dimethoxy-6,7,8,11,12,13-hexahydro-5,14-dioxa-benzocyclotridecen-15-one (225 mg).
