Procedure
24 ml (121 mmol) of hydrazine was added to an ethanol solution (200 ml) of 28.0 g of 2-[(6-methoxypyridin-3-yl)carbonyl]benzoic acid, and the reaction liquid was stirred at 60° C. for 4 hours. The reaction liquid was concentrated under reduced pressure, and the resulting solid was washed with diethyl ether to obtain 21.50 g (yield: 77%) of 4-(6-methoxypyridin-3-yl)-2H-phthalazin-1-on as a white solid.
