Reaction Steps

Hydroxylamine hydrochloride (0.87 g, 0.0125 mmol) was added to 0.5M NaOCH3 (25 mL, 0.0125 mmol) and stirred at ambient temperature for 30 min. The reaction mixture was filtered and the filtrate was combined with pyridin-3-ylacetonitrile (1.18 g, 0.010 mmol). The resultant mixture was heated at reflux for 2 h, stirred at ambient temperature overnight and concentrated to give crude (1Z)-N′-hydroxy-2-pyridin-3-ylethanimidamide which was used immediately without purification. ES-LCMS m/z 152.18 (M+H).
