Reaction Steps

To a solution of 1-((4-chlorophenyl)(1-methylpiperidin-4-yl)methyl)piperazine 0.1 g (0.325 mmol) dissolved in methylene chloride (20 ml) was added diphenylmethyl isocyanate 0.07 μg (0.325 mmol) and the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The reaction mixture was washed with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution and brine, dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated. The residue was applied to flash column chromatography using methylene chloride and methanol (100:10) as eluents to give 0.14 g of desired product.
