Reaction Steps
Add 8 mL of a 4 M solution of HCl in Et20 to 1.2 g of 4-(4-Nitro-pyridin-2-yloxy)-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester and stir the suspension for 4 hours. Evaporate the solvent and triturate the remaining solid with Et2O to afford 1.1 g of 4-nitro-2-(piperidin-4-yloxy)-pyridine dihydrochloride as a pale yellow solid (100% yield) (ES+(Q/z)=224 [M+H].
