Procedure

6 g of 3-mercapto-4-amino-6-(1-ethylcyclopropyl)-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one is dissolved in 14.2 ml of 2 N NaOH and 20 ml of H2O in the cold state. To the solution is added a solution consisting of 4.8 g of methyl iodide and 35 ml of CH3OH. The solution is stirred for 3 hours at room temperature; H2O is added and the solution is subsequently extracted 3 times with 50 ml of ethyl acetate each time. The organic phase is separated, dried, and evaporated to dryness. The residue (5.7 g) is recrystallized from 0 ml of toluene/petroleum ether (40°-65° C.)=1:1. There is thus obtained 4 g of white crystals of the formula ##STR3## having a melting point of 93°-95° C. The n-propyl derivative can be prepared in a similar manner.
