Procedure
50 g of 2,7,7,9,9-pentamethyl-2-ethyl-3-(2,3-epoxypropyl)-1-oxa-3,8-diaza-spiro[4.5]decan-4-one in 200 g of formic acid were boiled under reflux for 4 hours. The formic acid was removed by distillation in vacuo and the residue was boiled for 2 hours in 100 ml of 10% strength NaOH. An oily layer was formed, this was separated off and it solidified after a little time. The product was pulverized, washed with water and dried.
