After cooling chlorosulfonic acid to 0° C. under N2, the 3-(2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)ethyl)-3,4-dihydroquinolin-2(1H)-one was added slowly and stirred at 0° C. for 1 h. The solution was heated to 50° C. for 10 minutes and cooled down to rt. After pouring the reaction mixture into ice, a white precipitate formed which was extracted with CH2Cl2. The organic layer was washed with H2O and brine, then dried over MgSO4 and concentrated in vacuo to complete dryness, giving the product as a white solid (2.4 g, 47% yield).
