Reaction Steps

A solution of phenylmagnesium bromide (1.0 M in THF, 1.0 mL) was added dropwise to a solution of (S)-tert-butyl 3-oxobutyl(1-phenylethyl)carbamate (0.0421 g, 0.144 mmol in THF (4 mL) under N2 at rt. After the solution was stirred for 14 h, the reaction was quenched with 10% aq Na2CO3 (0.5 mL) and diluted with CH2Cl2. The organic layer was dried over Na2SO4. After the solvents were evaporated, the crude product was directly used in the next step without further purification.
