To a solution of 2-((S)-3-((S)-1-(4′-fluorobiphenyl-4-yl)ethyl)-2-oxo-6-phenyl-1,3-oxazinan-6-yl)acetic acid (1 g, 2.3 mmol) in MeOH (15 mL) was added thionyl chloride (408 mg, 3.5 mmol) dropwise at 0° C. under N2 atmosphere. After refluxing overnight, the mixture was concentrated to give the crude product, which was purified by chromatography to give methyl 2-((S)-3-((S)-1-(4′-fluorobiphenyl-4-yl)ethyl)-2-oxo-6-phenyl-1,3-oxazinan-6-yl)acetate (680 mg, 68%).
