To a solution of (R)-6-allyl-6-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-((S)-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethyl)-1,3-oxazinan-2-one (1.5 g, 4.07 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (40 mL) was added BBr3 (3 g, 12.2 mmol) at −78° C. The mixture was stirred at this temperature for 2 h. The solution was washed with satd aq NaHCO3 and the aqueous layer was extracted with CH2Cl2. The organic layer was dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated to give (R)-6-allyl-6-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-((S)-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl)-1,3-oxazinan-2-one (1.2 g, 83%), which was used for the next step without further purification.
