3 M Aqueous KOH (2.6 mL) is added to a mixture of 4-[(adamantan-1-ylmethyl)carbamoyl]-pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridine-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (503 mg, 1.32 mmol) and EtOH (6.6 mL). After 4 h, the volatiles are removed under reduced pressure. The aqueous residue is diluted with water (2 mL) and then acidified with 1 M aq. HCl to ˜pH 2. The solids are collected by filtration and then dried to afford the title compound as a light yellow powder. 1H NMR (400 MHz, ((CD3)2SO) δ: 8.86 (d, 1H), 8.50 (t, 1H), 7.71 (d, 1H), 7.26 (s, 1H), 7.12 (t, 1H), 3.00 (d, 2H), 1.88-1.98 (m, 3H), 1.48-1.69 (m, 12H). LC-MS m/z (M+H+): 354.09.
