Procedure

To a solution of EXAMPLE 321D (1.38 g) in dichloromethane (25 mL) was added Dess-Martin periodinane (2.489 g) and the reaction stirred for 1 hour at room temperature. The reaction was quenched with 1N aqueous NaOH solution (75 mL) and the product was extracted into dichloromethane (2×100 mL). The combined organics were washed with brine (75 mL), dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated. Silica gel chromatography (Reveleris 80 g) eluting with a gradient of 1% to 10% ethyl acetate/hexanes over 40 minutes gave the title compound.
