A solution of (E)-N-(2-(2-(4-hydroxy-4-(2-(pyridin-3-yl)vinyl)piperidin-1-yl)-2-oxoethoxy)ethyl)-4-methoxy-N,2,6-trimethylphenylsulfonamide (0.9 mmol) in methanol (10 ml) was degassed for 15 min with argon, and 10% Pd/C (200 mg) was added. The resulting mixture was stirred for 16 h at 25° C. under a hydrogen atmosphere (conversion monitored by TLC). The reaction mixture was filtered through Celite, the filter cake was washed thoroughly with methanol, and the filtrate was concentrated completely. The residue was purified by column chromatography on silica gel (methylene chloride/methanol).
