To a solution of glycine hydrochloride 46 (4.5 g, 40.3 mmol) in n-propanol (60 mL) was slowly added SOCl2 (13.5 mL) at room temperature. The reaction mixture was stirred at 70° C. for 15 h. After cooling to room temperature, the mixture was evaporated under vacuum to provide the titled compound (6.1 g, 98%) as a white solid. MH+118.
