Reaction Steps

The solution of alcohol 100 (600 mg, 0.85 mmol) and Dess-Martin periodinane (540 mg, 1.27 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (4.2 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The reaction mixture was filtered off the white solid. The filtrate was diluted with CH2Cl2 and washed with brine. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous MgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. Purification by silica gel column chromatography provided the desired aldehyde 101 (395 mg, 65%) as a solid.
