3-(Azidomethyl)-8-chloro-2-(piperidin-1-yl)quinoline (30 mg, 0.1 mmol) was dissolved in MeOH (1 mL) and treated with 10% Pd—C (5 wt %) and the mixture was then stirred under H2 balloon over night. The mixture was filtered through a Celite™ pad followed by removal of solvents to give (8-chloro-2-(piperidin-1-yl)-quinolin-3-yl)methanamine as a colorless oil. N-((8-chloro-2-(piperidin-1-yl)-quinolin-3-yl)methyl)-9H-purin-6-amine was prepared according to Procedure H.
