To a solution of {4-[3-(1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl)-phenyl]-piperazin-1-yl}-(1-methyl-piperidin-4-yl)-methanone (0.12 g, 0.35 mmol) in dry THF (4 mL) boran-methyl sulfide complex in THF ((CH3)2S.BH3) (0.07 mL, 0.74 mmol) was added and the resulting suspension was heated at 60° C. overnight. The reaction was then cooled to room temperature, the solvent removed under reduced pressure and 1N HCl (3 mL) was added to the residue before heating at 100° C. for 5 h. The reaction was then cooled to room temperature, neutralized with 10% NaOH and extracted with dichloromethane (3×10 mL) The combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford a residue that was purified by Preparative HPLC, to obtain 0.08 g (69%) of the title compound.
