To a solution of 4-[4-Fluoro-3-(1-methyl-1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl)-phenyl]-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (0.86 g, 1.71 mmol) in DCM (2.0 mL) 2.0 M HCl in Et2O (10 mL) was added and the resulting suspension was stirred at room temperature overnight. The precipitate was filtered off and tritured with Et2O (3×15 mL) to afford the title compound (quantitative yield).
