Reaction Steps

To 1,2-dihydrobenzo[b]pyrrolo[3,2,1-jk][1,4]benzodiazepin6-one (67 g) in 1 l of toluene, under nitrogen, was added 2,4-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,3-dithia-2,4-diphosphetane-2,4-disulfide (45 g). The mixture was refluxed for 1 hr and allowed to stand overnight. The precipitate was collected and recrystallized from chloroform to afford 43 g, (60.2%) of product, mp 185°-186° C.
