Procedure
9.0 g of 1-(2-chloroethyl)-3-n-propyl-3-D-xylopyranosylurea are dissolved in 25 ml of formic acid, and 6.0 g of sodium nitrite are added gradually thereto at 0° to 5° C. for one hour under stirring. The mixture is stirred at the same temperature for 30 minutes. After the reaction, the mixture is treated in the same manner as described in Example 5-(2). 3.7 g of 1-(2-chloroethyl)-1-nitroso-3-n-propyl-3-D-xylopyranosylurea are thereby obtained as pale yellow caramel.
