Procedure

100 gm of N-(2-amino-3.5-dibromo-benzyl)-methionine were dissolved in 500 ml of hot acetic acid, and then, while stirring and heating the solution at the boiling point, 28 gm of maleic acid were added. After it had dissolved, the solution was cooled to 20° C. while stirring was continued, and the precipitated product was centrifuged off, washed with a little acetic acid and then with isopropylic acid, and after drying at 60° C. in a ventilated drying chamber, 107 gm of the desired product were obtained in the form of white crystals, which melted at 205° C.
