A suspension of 6,7-dimethoxy-3H-pyrimido[4,5-b]indol-4(9H)-one 6 (2.8 g), POCl3 (20 mL) and p-dioxane 65 mL was heated at reflux for 6 hrs, then stirred at 25 0° C. for 36 hrs. The obtained mixture was filtered and concentrated. The crude product was purified by column chromatography using 1% MeOH/DCM to give title compound 773.3% (2.2 g) as pale yellow solid.
