A solution of 3-(1-benzyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-6-chloro-4-phenyl-1H-quinolin-2-one (110 mg) in α-chloroethylchloroformate (5 mL) was heated at 100° C. for 2 hr. The reaction was evaporated and the resulting residue was dried in vacuo. The residue was dissolved in HOAc (5 mL) and NH4Ac (100 mg) was added. The reaction mixture was heated at 100° C. for 12 hr. Solvents were removed and the title compound was isolated by reversed phase HPLC. Yield 66%.
