To a solution of 10a (6 g, 21 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (400 ml) 4N aq. HCl (400 ml) was added. After 45 min. stirring at room temperature the two layers were separated. The organic solution was extracted with 4N aq. HCl. The aqueous solution was filtered and evaporated to obtain 6,7,8,9-Tetrahydro-6-hydroxypyrido[3′,2′:4,5]pyrrolo[1,2-c]pyrimidin-9one (5 g, 100%) as hydrochloride salt as a light orange solid.
