Procedure

To a 50-mL, round-bottomed flask containing a solution of 6-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-N-(2,3-dihydrobenzo[b][1,4]dioxin-6-yl)-2-(methylsulfonyl)pyrimidin-4-amine from step (c) above (0.20 g, 0.46 mmol) in MeOH (10 mL) was added NaOMe (76 mg, 1.4 mmol, Aldrich). The reaction mixture was refluxed for 2 h, and the solvent was removed in vacuo. Purification of the residue by silica gel column chromatography (4:1 hexane/EtOAc) provided the title product as a yellow solid. MS (ESI, pos. ion) m/z: 392 (M+1).
