Procedure

Benzotrichloride is chlorosulfonated with chlorosulfonic acid to yield m-chlorosulfonylbenzotrichloride, and the product is heated to obtain m-chlorosulfonylbenzoylchloride. (U.S. Pat. No. 3,290,370)
