Procedure
7-(Nα -carbobenzoxyglycyl-L-arginyl)amino-4-methylcoumarin hydrochloric acid salt (559 mg, 1 mM) was dissolved in methyl alcohol (50 ml) and palladium-carbon catalyst (50 mg) was added thereto. This mixture was stirred while being treated with hydrogen gas for 3 hours. The catalyst was removed by filtration and the thus obtained filtrate was concentrated to yield solid material. To the residue ether (50 ml) was added to yield a powder. The powder was separated by filtration and dried to give 7-(glycyl-L-arginyl)amino-4-methylcoumarin hydrochloric acid salt [II] (400 mg).
