Procedure
2.6 g of 1,3-dimethyl-4-[(2-nitrophenyl)amino]pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid and 10 ml of thionyl chloride are stirred at 80° C. for 3 hours; the solution is concentrated; 10 ml of toluene are added, and the mixture is re-concentrated, this procedure being carried out 3 times. 2.9 g of 1,3-dimethyl-4-[(2-nitrophenyl)amino]pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid chloride are thus obtained as an orange-colored oil.
