A mixture of 1-methyl-N3 -phenylmethylene-N5 -[3-[3-[(dimethylamino)methyl]phenoxy]propyl]-1H-1,2,4-triazole-3,5-diamine (2.0 g) and sodium borohydride (0.95 g) in methanol was stirred at 25° for 12 hr. The mixture was poured onto water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic extract was washed with ethyl acetate. The organic extract was washed with brine and distilled to give the title compound as a pale yellow oil (1.4 g) b.p. 180° (0.04 mm). TLC silica; methanol:ammonia (80:1) Rf 0.7.
