Grubb's catalyst (0.012 g, 0.013 mmol) was added to a solution of 3-allyl-N,N-dimethyl-9-phenyl-3-azaspiro[5.5]undecan-9-amine (0.09 g, 0.266 mmol) in dry toluene (5 ml) at room temperature and the mixture was refluxed for 2 h. The sediment was filtered off over celite and rewashed with ethyl acetate. The filtrate was concentrated to small volume under vacuum and the crude product used in the next stage without further purification. Yield: quantitative
