Reaction Steps

To 2-methoxyethyl((S)-1-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)piperidin-3-yl)methylcarbamate (496 mg, 1.6 mmol) dissolved in 10 mL CH2Cl2 was added 5 mL TFA, and the reaction was stirred for 1 hour. After neutralizing the mixture with a 1 N NaOH solution it was extracted with CH2Cl2, and the combined organic layers were dried over MgSO4, filtered, and concentrated to give 2-methoxyethyl((R)-piperidin-3-yl)methylcarbamate (300 mg, 87%) which was used without further purification. LC/MS: m/z 217.5 (M+H)+ at 0.49 min (10%-99% CH3CN (0.035% TFA)/H2O (0.05% TFA)).
