To a suspension of 5-nitro-2-(3,4,5-trifluoro-benzyl)-2H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (649 mg, 2.1 mmol) in 12 ml of methanol was added 100 mg of palladium 10% on charcoal and the mixture hydrogenated for 1.5 hours at room temperature and normal pressure. The catalyst was filtered off and the filtrate concentrated to yield the title compound as a colorless solid (47 mg, Yield=80%). MS ISP (m/e): 286.0 (100) [(M+H)+].
