Procedure

A mixture of 10-chloro-7-(5-cyclohexyl-pentyl)-7H-indolo[2,3-c]-quinoline (65 mg) in toluene (3 ml) and CH3I (0.3 mL) was stirred in a sealed pressure tube at 110° C. for 24 hours. The reaction mixture was allowed to cool to room temperature, diluted with Et2O (15 ml) and the resulting precipitate was filtered and washed with Et2O (3×20 ml) to yield the pure angular product as an orange solid (50 mg). Mp 246-248° C.

Workup

  1. temperatureto cool to room temperature
  2. filtrationthe resulting precipitate was filtered
