Reaction Steps

To a solution of tert-butyl-[2-(2,3-difluoro-4-methyl-5-nitro-phenoxy)-ethoxy]-dimethyl-silane (1.16 g, 3.33 mmol) in EtOH (10 ml) was added 10% Pd/C (0.116 g) and the mixture was hydrogenated under balloon pressure for two hours. The mixture was filtered and the filtrate was concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure. Purification of the crude product by flash chromatography (hexanes:EtOAc 7:3) gave 0.638 g of 5-[2-(tert-butyl-dimethyl-silanyloxy)-ethoxy]-3,4-difluoro-2-methyl-phenylamine as a tan solid.
