Reaction Steps
Triethylamine (Et3N) (18 g) was added to a dichloromethane (130 ml) solution of 2-(3-thietanylthio)ethanol (21 g). A dichloromethane (30 ml) solution of methanesulfonyl chloride (MsCl) (18 g) was added dropwise to the mixture under cooling (−15 degrees centigrade), and the reaction was carried out at 0 degree centigrade for 1 hour. Cold water was added to the reaction mixture for partition, and then the organic layer (dichloromethane solution) was added dropwise to a methanol (200 ml) solution of potassium thioacetate (AcSK) (21 g) under cooling (5 degrees centigrade), and the reaction was carried out for 10 hours. Ethyl acetate and water were added to the reaction mixture for carrying out extraction. The organic layer was washed with water and dried with magnesium sulfate. The resultant was filtered and then concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain a desired oily product (27 g).
