Sodium azide (67 g, 1 mol) was suspended in a mixture of water and acetone (300 mL, 1:1). The mixture was cooled to 0° C., a solution of compound 3 (126.9 g, 0.52 mol) in dry acetone (400 mL) was added at 5° C. The resulting mixture was stirred at 0-5° C. for 4 h and then poured into water (1.5 L). The precipitate was filtered off, washed with water, dried. Additional drying in vacuo over P2O5 gave 4 (130.3 g, 100%)
