Reaction Steps
In the manner described in Example 3, treatment of 2-(3-carboxypropyl)cyclopentan-1-one (Example 5) with p-toluene-sulfonic acid monohydrate in ethanol gives a colorless oil, b.p. 93° C. (0.10 mm).
