Procedure

2-[(Dimethylamino)methyl]-5,6-dimethoxy-1-indanone, hydrochloride (1:1) (2.0 g) and 1-phenyl-1,3,8-triazaspiro[4.5]decan-4-one (1.94 g) are stirred for 20 hours in 20 ml of absolute ethanol while a slow stream of nitrogen is bubbled through. The resultant precipitate is filtered off and dried to yield 2.75 g of the title compound, melting point 174°-177° C.
