3-(1-{(S)-2-[(6,7-Difluoro-quinoxalin-2-ylamino)-methyl]-piperidin-1-yl}-methanoyl)-benzoic acid methyl ester (0.5 g) was dissolved in methanol (15 ml) and treated with 1M sodium hydroxide (1.7 ml). The reaction mixture was stirred for 12 h, additional 1M sodium hydroxide (1.7 ml) added and stirring continued for a further 24 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with water and washed with ethyl acetate. The aqueous phase was acidified with 2M hydrochloric acid and extracted with ethyl acetate (×3). the combined organic phase was dried (MgSO4), filtered and solvent removed at reduced pressure to give the title compound (0.463 g) as a yellow solid.
