Reaction Steps
After subjecting the above Compound 5 (59.0 g, 195 mmol) to Mitsunobu reaction with N-tosylglycine methyl ester according to the method described in Document (WO02/30930), ring-closure was caused with 1M sodium methoxide, to give 3-(4-fluorobenzyl)-8-hydroxy-1,6-naphthyridine-7-carboxylic acid methyl ester 6 (50.3 g) in 83% yield.
