Reaction Steps
Treat 5-formyl-3-phenylsulfanyl-1H-indole-2-carboxylic acid amide 13 (m=0, R3=Ph; 400 mg, 1.35 mmol) with Mel (101 μl) as described in General Procedure XIV to provide the 5-formyl-1-methylindole the title compound 14 (280 mg, 67%), Rf (5% MeOH/CH2Cl2)=0.75.
