Solid NBS (1.09 g, 6.11 mmole) was added to a stirred solution of 2-chloroquinazolin-8-ol (1.10 g, 6.11 mmole) and diisopropyl amine (2.2 mL, 15.30 mmole) in CHCl3 (60 mL) at −5° C. under argon. After stirring at −5 to 0° C. for 1 hour, LCMS showed that the reaction was complete. The reaction was evaporated to a residue which was dissolved in DMSO (5 mL) and purified by prep. HPLC. The pure product was obtained as a white solid in 51% yield (800 mg, 3.08 mmole).
